Australian Satellite Services has established close relationships with prominent satellite carriers such as Cable & Wireless Optus, Panamsat and Intelsat as well as major satellite systems manufacturers, including ViaSat and Gilat. Our company has provided engineering assistance to Optus for the introduction of its MobileSat service and products into Australia and to Gilat for the launch its Skystar Advantage network also in Australia.

Australian Satellite Services is a major contractor for the installation and service operations to service geographically dispersed satellite networks throughout Australia. We employ a permanent staff of highly qualified engineers and technicians supplemented by an extensive list of dealers and subcontractors in all states, as shown below:-

These contracts range from small service and upgrade tasks for a large number of dispersed terminals, to the supply and/or installation of medium to large antennas anywhere in Australia and its territories.

In 1998 ASCS completed the software upgrade of more that 100 terminals for Project Aurora to facilitate the digitalisation of the Optus B series satellites. Before that the company programmed, supplied and installed new micro-processors for 4,500 B MAC satellite decoders and supplied and installed terminals for a rural health network and a regional and remote broadcasting network for Imparja. In addition ASCS has installed a 7m antenna for NWS Channel 9 and sub-contracted for the erection of two 10m and two 22m antennas at the joint defence facility at Pine Gap. The company has also supplied and installed numerous other 3m to 13m antennas around Australia. Off shore, ASCS has supplied specially configured L Band terminals to INTERFET and the UN in East Timor and has installed a 4.6m earth station for the Department of Defence on Cocos Island.

In general Australian Satellite Services can deliver a comprehensive range of satellite terminal services Australia wide.

As well as its range of "on site" services for satellite terminals ASCS has a major workshop and storage facility at its head office in Adelaide, complemented by depots in Sydney and Perth. ASCS also has a service and storage facility at Cadney Park in the far north of South Australia. At its Adelaide facility the company maintains a fleet of installation and service vehicles set up and equipped for remote area field work and a completely equipped workshop capable of RF measurements and calibration and the servicing of satellite terminal equipment.

ASCS imports and stocks a wide range of satellite communications equipment. Antennas, decoders, LNB's, mountings, feed horns, actuators and power supplies are among the list. Give us a call to check out that hard to get part. Special equipment for custom designed or turn-key installations is imported or sourced locally to optimise price and performance for our customers.

With our in-house and associated engineering and project management skills ASCS is able to offer a comprehensive design and consulting service for satellite communications, programme re-broadcasting and mobile communications networks. Frequency planning, system design link budgeting, installation planning, local government approvals and all necessary electrical and mechanical engineering calculations are included in the service available from ASCS.

ASCS maintains a stock of satellite mobile communications equipment for short term hire contracts. Vodafone Globalstar handsets are available at daily or monthly hire rates and MobileSat terminals with power supplies, specially set up in convenient aluminium attache cases are also available.
